As a new student at the University of Arizona, we know you probably have questions about the process. What comes first, what comes next, where to go, who to ask, how to submit documents and paperwork. There’s a lot of ground to cover. That’s why we created need-to-know checklists to help you keep on top of things at every stage leading up to, and after, orientation. Use these lists as your guide to becoming a successful Wildcat! 

First-Year Student Checklist

  • Set up your NetID and password.

    Create your Net ID and password by logging into the Next Steps Center. You’ll need to use the student ID number and PIN provided to you in your admission letter. (You will also need to set up your personal device with NetID+ / Duo Mobile).

  • Complete your pre-orientation tasks.

    Log in to the Next Steps Center to:

    • Pay the enrollment fee
    • Sign up for New Student Orientation
    • Confirm your residency (if applicable)
    • Complete placement exams
    • Upload immunization records
    • Send final high school or college transcripts
    • Complete the Countdown to Orientation content (available 2 weeks before orientation day!)
  • Attend virtual New Student Orientation

    The session includes mandatory virtual sessions, optional live chats and virtual drop-ins.

  • Check out Campus Connection sessions (optional)

    Review our list of Campus Connection sessions and attend those that are of interest to you. If you miss a session, don’t worry. You can watch all of the content at a later time in our Virtual Session Bank.

      • Attend Orientation

        International students are required to attend two student orientation programs: Global Orientation and your orientation with the University of Arizona. During the Global Orientation program, you will learn about immigration requirements, cultural adjustment, and the international student experience.  Your University of Arizona Orientation is where you'll meet with advising staff, get your class schedule, learn all about life as a Wildcat and meet your new classmates.  This orientation experience includes a mix of mandatory virtual sessions, optional live chats and drop-ins.
