Your student is launching a new chapter in their life. This is an exciting time for everyone! We understand that it can also be an emotional one, so our goal is to make sure your student’s transition to the University of Arizona is smooth sailing all the way. We’re here to answer questions and guide you through the orientation process, step by step.
Financial Aid 101
Often, students pay for college with the help of families, supporters, scholarships and other assistance. There are a lot of moving parts when it comes to managing the costs of a college education. For help understanding what financial assistance is available, the in's and out's of each type — plus, how to apply — the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid is your resource. Tuition, billing, fees and payment plans are handled through the Bursar’s Office.
Placements
It’s mandatory for your student to complete the placements for math, writing and second language before orientation. They can complete these in the Next Steps Center.
Guest Fee
The orientation fee for family members and supporters to attend the concurrent Family Essentials orientation session costs $40 per guest. Changes can be made at least seven business days before the scheduled session for a full refund. This fee can be paid online in the UAccess Student Center.
Accessibility & Accommodations
Orientation is accessible to everyone. Your student can visit the Next Steps Center to make accommodation requests for themselves and their guests. Accommodations range from — but are not limited to — American Sign Language interpretation, CART captioning, captioned videos, etc.
New Student Checklist
The Next Steps Center makes it simple for your student to get Wildcat ready. Here’s a checklist of just some of the high-priority tasks to complete before orientation:
- Pay your enrollment fee.
- Submit immunization records.
- Send final high school or college transcripts.
- Complete any necessary placements! Do your best, but don’t stress!
